4-23-19 Illinois: Scattered showers increase mid-week….more active set-up early next week? Latest here. N.

Video:

Mainly dry day today with a few showers/iso. storms developing in southern portions of the state this afternoon.  Tonight, rain risks remain along and south of I-64 as the front stalls out.  As a wave rides along the front, we’ll see increasing scattered showers across central and southern Illinois Wednesday.  Thursday should trend drier, with rain risks highest in the far south with a few spotty showers north.  Watch today’s video for more.  Here is total precipitation now through Thursday (which includes rain from last evening in northern Illinois).

Watch today’s video for details on the upcoming weekend.  We are targeting a more active set-up as we head into next week as a front may stall over the region for a few days.  This leads to large temperature differences (80s south vs. 50s north) and a focus for storms.  This is why you should take the temperature at the bottom of this post with a grain of salt as differences in frontal placement will change the temperature significantly for any one location.
