Today’s Video:
Good Friday morning everyone!
We’re watching rain begin to develop and make it’s way into portions of South Dakota today. You can see on radar this already developing in Nebraska.
If you take a look at the simulated radar you can see these chances continuing throughout much of today and overnight, especially focused on SW South Dakota. The system will gradually weaken early Saturday and light showers will push off to South Central South Dakota before completely diminishing after mid-day.
Overall, precipitation totals look fairly light with some areas in SW South Dakota receiving about 0.10″ and up to 0.25″ of rain.
Good news is temperatures will be quite warm over the next few days, and sunshine will re-appear for most of the area on Sunday!
The next system will move in late Monday into Tuesday with rain risks once again for the area. Models do try to spit out snow on the backside with this, but given warm temperatures and dry air current thinking is that this will not be an issue.
There are still big differences in the handling of this system between the GFS and Euro. The GFS continues the storm into Minnesota while the Euro suppresses it south. Here’s a look at the 7-day precipitation totals between the two models:
Here is also a quick look at the winds and cloud cover over the next few days:
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out and have a good weekend!
