Forecast radar from 9am this morning to noon Sunday CDT:

Here is our thinking regarding rain totals through Sunday…watch the video for more specifics regarding timing.

High temperatures over the next 4 days.  Coolest day comes on Saturday with widespread clouds and scattered showers….then we warm as the system departs Sunday and Monday.

Low temperatures over the next 4 days:

Wind forecast over the next 4 days:

Weeks 1 and 2 temperatures from normal….still targeting a very nice warm-up particularly in the 8-14 day time-frame, when much of the region goes above normal.

Weeks 1 and 2 precipitation from normal:  Iowa and northern Missouri stays very dry relative to normal for week 1….focus for moisture west and south.  Week 2 we still favor the drier side of normal across the region.

It’s a largely drier than normal pattern as we go deeper through May, especially central and northern Plains.  This morning we dove into the pattern drivers and created our weeks 3 and 4 outlooks.  We do see a signal for wetter than normal in southern Kansas/Missouri.  Certainly good news for these very dry areas.  Weeks 3 and 4 outlooks valid from May 4 to May 17.  Note the RISK to this forecast is to be wetter and cooler than our forecast.
