Today’s Video:
Good Tuesday morning everyone! The arctic front we discussed about yesterday is bringing scattered snow showers to mainly northern MN but with additional activity lifting into west-central MN here shortly. Upper-level energy will continue to swing through MN through the daytime hours and bring scattered snow showers and squalls to the state, though likely mixing with rain in the southern half of the state. Plenty of lift is provided by this wave, so the threat for additional snow showers will remain in the northern third of MN overnight.
Simulated radar through 12am CDT tonight: Scattered snow showers and squalls continue to work southeastward through the day across MN, mixing with rain to the south where warmer air resides. Remaining energy in the northern third of MN keeps patches of light snow showers around even into tonight.
Here’s a look at potential accumulation with the scattered snow shower activity through tonight: Localized pockets of ~1″ of snow will be possible in the northern third of the state with the risk for accumulations dwindling quickly the further south you head due to weaker forcing and warmer temperatures.
Simulated radar from 12am CDT through 1pm CDT Thursday: A disturbance from the Central Plains will bring light rains to the far southern portions of MN (mainly the southern-most two county rows ) from just after lunchtime Wednesday through Thursday night.
An additional weak wave with a front is likely to track through northern MN Thursday night with a light rain/snow mix. Watch for additional waves to bring scattered rain risks to the state Friday night through Sunday night.

Here’s a look at temperatures over the next four days: Colder air remains, especially in northern MN, through Thursday before a front finally lifts out and allow temperatures to really ramp up into the weekend. Temperatures will be well into the 60s in the southern two-thirds of MN by Friday.
Winds will gust with the snow showers today as high as 35mph at times from the northwest:
