Today’s Video:
Good Thursday morning everyone. New Orleans remains in an enhanced risk of severe weather for today, though we believe the best dynamics for severe weather and tornadoes will be to the north of the city though a few strong to severe storms with strong winds and an isolated tornado are still not off the table.
We continue to believe we need to watch as we work into the late afternoon into the evening (4 – 6 PM) for thunderstorms to develop ahead of the main line. These could be strong to severe. The main front will then work into the area and likely exit by 7-8 PM CT. There is the potential if storms arrive on the quicker side that the storms could be east of the ball park by the time the game starts and that it could potentially start on time — with that being said, strong storms could still be in the area just before the game as fans are arriving.
Total precipitation likely ends around 0.5 – 1.0″ for this storm system but locally higher totals under a heavier storm is possible.
Following the passage of this system, we should begin to see much calmer weather. We will need to watch for some patchy drizzle/iso. shower Friday afternoon/evening but most of the activity should remain to the north. As we work into the weekend, conditions will be much cooler and drier with no precipitation threats until we work into next Wednesday following the home stretch.
