Here is a look at simulated radar from 3 PM today through 8 PM tomorrow. Precip begins to work in later this afternoon/ evening with the heaviest snow working from Burlington, IA though Peoria and into Kankakee. PLEASE WATCH VIDEO FOR COMPLETE DETAILS.
Here is a look at the preferred snowfall totals with this system. The area highlighted in yellow is the area most preferred for banding to set up with amounts of 3″ – 6″. HOWEVER, it must be noted that warmer temperatures and an April Sun angle should limit that which can accumulate on pavement. Snowfall rates well be heavy enough that some impacts will be felt but amounts on pavement should be about half of that which falls from the sky. Slick spots will definitely be possible hazardous travel conditions. Most of this should melt by Friday afternoon as warm air filters in. Things may fluctuate as more data comes in.
