Current radar at shows lingering snow across portions of the Dakotas and southern Minnesota:
Winter weather alerts will expire this afternoon across the region:
Forecast radar shows the snows gradually winding down through the day….an additional disturbance will bring more snow showers across central/east central North Dakota this evening pushing south across the eastern Dakotas/western Minnesota through the morning hours Wednesday as it gradually diminishes.
Additional snow amounts will be very light….the area from central North Dakota to east central South Dakota down across southern Minnesota may see an additional 1″ of snow through this afternoon.
Looking at additional snow from this evening through Wednesday….locally 1-2″ of additional snow across central North Dakota and eastern South Dakota, into southwest Minnesota. The snow band will be rather narrow:
Skies clear out later tomorrow with quiet weather expected Thursday.
Checking out the wind forecast, it remains quite breezy today with gusts to 30mph, with lighter winds expected tomorrow with peak gusts only around 20mph. High pressure will bring light winds and calm conditions Thursday.
Temperatures stay quite cold this week, as we patiently wait for spring to arrive. Highs in the 20s today, then even colder air tomorrow. The deep snow cover will act to keep those temperatures chilly….snow pack “reflects” the sun’s rays instead of absorbing them…which limits the warming at the surface.
A couple disturbances will bring weak snow chances across the region Thursday night through early Sunday time-frame. High pressure builds back in Sunday afternoon.
