Good Tuesday morning!
Current radar: Large upper low spinning over Iowa bringing scattered snow showers….this system will continue to drift southeast throughout the day.
Current alerts:
Future radar shows the snow showers gradually tapering over Nebraska today, with snow showers continuing across Iowa and building across northern Missouri. A few heavier bursts of snow can be expected here throughout the day.
The additional amounts of snow will be light, with general coatings to locally 2″ of additional snow. Warming temperatures this afternoon limit additional accumulations.
Winds will be another big issue today, with the strongest winds in Kansas and Nebraska where gusts up to 60 mph possible out of the north-northwest! The entire region will be windy. Winds still breezy tomorrow but MUCH calmer than today.
Temperatures will run well below normal today. Areas south and west will see a gradual warm-up mid to late week, while Iowa stays quite chilly!
Scattered flurries and light snow showers likely continue over Iowa tonight, with a weak disturbance bringing a narrow ribbon of light snow Wednesday across west-central Iowa:
