3-4-20 Tovar Milwaukee: Quick update on rain/ snow tomorrow morning. MG.

Good afternoon!

Here is a look at simulated radar from 2 AM tomorrow morning through 12 PM.  A weak pulse of rain/ snow will move into Wisconsin in the early morning hours of tomorrow.  Temperatures during this time will be very marginal/ warm with minimal to no pavement issues anticipated.  A weak pulse of scattered precipitation will be possible out ahead of the “main bulk” of precipitation tomorrow morning hour around 2 AM – 3 AM for areas such as Stevens Point and Green Bay.  Precipitation will continue to fill in mainly north of the Stevens Point and and Green Bay areas later in the morning.  Main bulk of precipitation will begin to impact areas around Stevens Point and Madison the 7 AM – 8 AM timeframe and will reach the lake shore areas by 9 AM to 10 AM.  By this point, the precipitation will have weakened slightly with warmer temperatures anticipated and more rain mixing in.  By about 12 PM  – 1 PM, most of the precipitation will be to the east.

Temperatures at 9 PM tonight.  Temperatures begin to climb into the morning hours of tomorrow.

Here is a look at temperatures from 2 AM through 12 PM.  Temperatures by 2 AM will largely be at/ above freezing with the exception of some areas close to Stevens Point, Green Bay and some locations in eastern WI.  Temperatures will continue to warm into the morning hours tomorrow as warm air is pumped out ahead of this “system.”  As the precipitation is falling in areas such as Madison to Milwaukee and points south, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s which should limit impacts to the pavement.  The area most likely to see potential pavement impacts will be in areas such as Stevens Point to Green Bay where cooler overnight lows will be realized (see image above) and slightly cooler temperatures when the precipitation is falling.  However, even in these areas, temperatures are expected to be above freezing as the precipitation is falling.

Winds tomorrow will also help limit pavement impacts.  Here is a look at the wind gust potential around 8 AM.  Wind gust around 30 mph will be possible tomorrow morning.

Here is a look at the preferred snow “falling from the sky” totals.  Most of this will not be realized in places such as Stevens Point and Green Bay due to the warmer temperatures anticipated as the snow is falling.  Minor pavement issues will be possible in areas such as Stevens Point to Green Bay but with treatment down, issues should be avoided.  Further to the south, warmer temperatures should limit pavement impacts.
