3-31-18 Reds Forecast

Good Saturday morning!  The day will get started with sunshine, but expect mostly cloudy skies to take over through the afternoon.  The good news is that we believe the game gets in dry.  I kept a 20% shower chance in there towards the end of the game ~4-5pm as I wouldn’t rule out a sprinkle or spotty shower approaching the area.  Here is a look at the latest hi-res NAM forecast radar from 1pm to 6pm today.  Notice it keeps the showers northwest of the Ball Park.

Plan on a windy afternoon with gusts to 30 mph mid to late afternoon out of the southwest.  Forecast wind gusts between 10am-7pm shown below:

The bulk of the shower activity will move through from 9pm to 2am tonight.  Up to 0.2″ of rain appears possible.

Sunday should be dry for the game, just plan on mostly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures.  It has trended slightly warmer as I think 50º is reachable.  Also, winds will be fairly light, so all in all not a bad day.

We are looking at a rain to snow set-up moving in Sunday evening and night.  Thankfully this should hold off until after 8pm.  This could bring slushy accumulations of a half-inch to 1″ for the Ball Park…higher snow amounts to the north where temperatures get a bit colder.

Monday should be a calm weather day with partly sunny skies and light winds.

Tuesday is a day we will need to watch closely for unsettled weather.  A potent storm system will move through the region bring thunderstorm chances and gusty winds.  Perhaps strong storms Tuesday night?  Depending on the timing, however, there could be a lull in the precipitation near game-time.  A warm front moves through Tuesday morning with showers and storms, then we catch a several hour window of dry and very warm conditions…as temperatures look to surge into the lower 70s!  The cold front will eventually move into the area Tuesday evening and night.  We will have to watch that for storms.  Data still varies on the exact timing.  If the front speeds up then a game cancellation would be likely.  If the front doesn’t get here until late evening it’s possible we squeeze in drier weather along with the warm temps.  We will keep you updated!
