Good Tuesday morning! The 7-day forecast remains very active with opening day looking wet and possibly stormy, but lower coverage in rainfall comes for Friday and Saturday as it appears now. Temperatures will be slightly above normal mid-week, near normal for Saturday, then colder than normal air moves in for Sunday through much of next week.
Latest data suggest a very unsettled Opening Day with scattered rain and thunderstorms, along with gusty winds. Here is a look at simulated radar from 9am to 8pm Thursday. There may be lulls or breaks, but the rain showers will come off and on throughout the day, and possibly a few gusty storms in the afternoon hours. In the embedded afternoon storms winds could gust to 40mph.
Here is a look at sky cover/precipitation forecast near game-time Thursday afternoon:
Saturday’s forecast is still lower confidence due to big differences in the data, but the thinking now is that it will be dry for the game before rain showers move in during the evening as a cold front approaches. Temperatures look relatively mild in the upper 50s at this time.
Sunday will feature a threat of showers as a cold front passes through. Temperatures fall from near 50 early afternoon to the 40s later in the day. It’s possible this mixes with snow Sunday night.
The front should pass Monday with drier weather returning for the afternoon. Temperatures will be quite cool.
Tuesday looks dry for now with a disturbance approaching from the west Tuesday night.
