3-26-20 Illinois PM Update: Light rain continues the next few hours in northern parts of the state. Isolated strong storm threat late overnight in W. IL. B.

Hey good afternoon everyone. The bulk of the rain in Northern Illinois will be working eastward over the next few hours leading to a decent lull in precipitation as we work into this evening and tonight. Here’s a look at the current radar:

Here’s a look at the simulated radar the rest of the afternoon and then into tomorrow morning:

Note, some of the precipitation east of Springfield to Champaign is either not verifying or not hitting the ground. Bulk of the wave will stay just to the north the next two hours. The storms in SE IL are mostly pushing out of the state and shouldn’t cause much more of an impact. A couple of isolated strong storms cannot be ruled out in far W. Central IL near St. Louis late tonight/pre-dawn tomorrow morning. A couple of those storms could produce localized large hail but this will mainly be in Missouri.

Here’s a look at total precipitation through tomorrow morning:

Note, totals on this from Springfield into East Central IL are likely overdone as data is under-doing the influence of some drier air. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! Have a blessed evening.
