Good Thursday morning!
A potent storm system will work across the Plains tomorrow, this will bring windy conditions for Friday with showers developing across Nebraska, northern Kansas and Missouri. Don’t be shocked to see a few thunderstorms tomorrow evening.
We have red flag and fire weather watches across Kansas tomorrow. The combination of dry air, windy conditions, and very warm air will enhance fire danger here tomorrow. The entire region can expect windy conditions tomorrow with gusts 30-40 mph.
Total precipitation through early Saturday shows the highest amounts in eastern Nebraska and northeast Missouri.
The precipitation should exit eastern Missouri by Saturday afternoon, with Saturday shaping up to be a quieter day with much less wind. Data indicating an active pattern early next week (Monday into early Wednesday) focused in the eastern half of the region.
Here are our weeks 1 and 2 updated outlooks. Week 1 features above normal precipitation in mainly eastern Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa. Missouri will see the heaviest amounts, with 2″+ amounts possible. Temperatures will trend above normal for many spots, but we go back below average as we begin April.
