Current radar showing snow showers across eastern Nebraska/western Iowa this morning, along with a batch of rain and snow over southern Missouri. This won’t amount to much.
Future radar showing the snow showers diminishing in Iowa later today. A few sprinkles or flurries will be possible through tomorrow morning in eastern parts of the area. Northwest Iowa could see a coating to 1″ on the grass, but that will be about it.
After an overall cool day….there is a gradual warming trend through late week. Kansas will get very warm by Friday/Saturday.
Mostly a quiet forecast Wednesday and Thursday. A disturbance may bring a few showers to northeast parts of the region Thursday:
Friday will bring warmer conditions with increasing wind, then a potent storm works across the region Friday night through Saturday. At this time, it looks like Kansas will miss our on any real rains….there the big concern will be enhanced fire danger Friday and Saturday. Moisture will be focused in the northern and eastern half of the region. Wet snow accumulations will be possible across portions of north-central and northeast Iowa.
7-day precipitation from the GFS and European models:
GFS and European both bring snow into northeast Iowa Saturday, but vary on amounts. Still some time to fine-tune this.
Weeks 1 and 2 outlooks show the warming trend across Kansas for the rest of this week. Most of the region trends cooler than normal for week 2, and drier as well. Southern Missouri has the best chance to trend above normal precip. for late month/early April.
