Here is a look at the current hazards/ radar across IA (as of 4:10 PM). There is currently a severe warned thunderstorm across SE IA. Southern Portions of the state are under a tornado watch (highlighted in yellow). Northwestern portions of the state are under a winter weather advisory (highlighted in purple). Severe weather will be possible across southern IA tonight with all modes of severe weather possible including winds, hail, and tornadoes. Most of the severe weather should stay south of the Des Moines area, but cannot 100% rule out.
Here is the preferred rainfall amounts through tomorrow morning. Under heavier storms across southern IA, amounts of 1.25″ + will be possible.
Here is a look at the preferred snowfall totals through tomorrow morning. Best potential to see pavement impacts will be in northwestern IA. Not anticipating pavement impacts / issues for Des Moines.
