Storm system will move into the region late tonight through Friday night, bringing rains mainly over Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa, with wintry weather possible in the north. Here is a look at the current alerts across the area. Red Flag Warning for enhanced fire danger over Kansas today. Winter storm warning from Valentine to Chadron in Nebraska where the combination of snow and ice accumulations are expected. Winter storm watch further east in far northern Nebraska.
Most of today remains dry and relatively mild. Expecting moisture to gradually increase overnight, especially after midnight. Freezing rain changes to snow across northwest Nebraska Friday morning, with freezing rain across far northern/northeast Nebraska continuing through the day, ending as a bit of snow. Iowa sees mostly rain showers build in through the day, then the threat for some freezing rain mainly elevated surfaces Friday night mainly north of I-80.

For most of us, it’s just a rain event. Here is the forecast precipitation through early Saturday. Widespread 0.25″-0.75″ in most of Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska. Pockets of 1″ amounts in northern Nebraska. Most of Kansas will see under a tenth inch.
