3-13-18 Illinois Forecast: Scattered snow showers northeast today – quiet mid-week….late week system? Details here! N.

Video:

Good Tuesday morning!  We will be watching for scattered snow showers and squalls for northeastern portions of the state today…where a few spots near Chicago to Kankakee could pick up scattered light accumulation.  The bulk of this will form from mid-day into early evening.

Looking at snow amounts, areas of a dusting to locally 1″ or so in isolated pockets across the extreme northeast part of the state such as Cook, Will, Kankakee counties.

Temperatures will be chilly today with 30s and 40s…warmer air for Wednesday with 40s and 50s, along with more sunshine.

Warmer air tries its best to build in, but we can’t get rid of the chilly air as a blocking pattern keeps the cold air in place across the Great Lakes and northeast.  Southern parts of the state sneak into the 60s Thursday, then the colder air wins out for Friday.

Thursday looks dry with sunshine, then rain looks to spread into southwest areas Friday.  This moisture will build north Friday night into Saturday morning and bring the chance of a wintry mix in central parts of the state.  Still several days out so things can change.  After some clouds and light precipitation Saturday, Sunday looks like a dry and warmer day.

Watching another system for early next week….watch the video for the latest on that.  Here are our weeks 1 and 2 temperatures and precipitation from normal:
