3-12-20 Tovar Decatur – Springfield: Discussing rain/ storms today + weekend system. MG.

IL Video:

We are dealing with some fog right now.  Here is a look at the simulated visibilities from 7 AM this morning through 11 AM.  We could see the fog hang around into the morning hours today.  The darker shades are indicative of fog.

Here is a look at simulated radar from 10 AM this morning through 10 PM tonight.

Here is a look at the Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center.  Overall, we agree with this outlook.  Areas along and south of I-70 have the best threat for severe weather.  Some even better ingredients will be situated in far southern IL with a greater severe potential in those areas.  Severe risk includes all modes of severe weather including large hail, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes.  More details in the video.

Here is a look at the preferred rainfall accumulations with this wave of precipitation today.  Some areas in southern Illinois could see amounts of 1″ + depending on where training storms can set up.  More details in the video.

As the rain passes, we could see some breezy conditions linger into tomorrow morning as the winds shift out of the NW.  Winds will be out of the northwest.  Gust could approach 30 mph into northern Illinois.  Here is a look at the sustained winds around 4 AM tomorrow morning.

We continue to eye a system on Saturday with some wintry potential but continue to remain suspect due to warmer temperatures, the time of day the precip rolls through, and the high pressure bearing down.  Something we will continue to update on with future updates.  Here is a snapshot of the preferred simulated radar guidance around 2 PM Saturday.
