2-8-20 Tovar Chicago NE: Scattered snow today… discussing the snow potential tomorrow. MG.

IL Video:

Current look at the radar as of 9:50 AM CT.  Could still see some slick spots on untreated surfaces across central portions of the state as temperatures remain cold enough this morning.

Here is a look at the current hazards across the area.  Far northwestern counties are currently under a winter weather advisory.

Here is a look at the current temperatures as of 9:30 AM CT.

Temperatures this afternoon around 3 PM.  Considering the warmer temperatures this afternoon and all ready treated surfaces, pavement impacts with scattered snow flurries should remain limited this afternoon.

Temperatures tonight will drop below 32 F tonight so any spots that can remain wet into the overnight offer a refreeze risk if left untreated.  Here is a look at temperatures around 2 AM tomorrow morning.

Here is a look at simulated radar from 11 AM today through 2 AM tonight.  Model may be overdone in coverage/ intensity but shows the risk of scattered snow flurries this afternoon.

Simulated radar from 4 AM tomorrow through 6 PM Monday.

Here is a look at snowfall totals for the system tomorrow.  A general 1″ – 2″ will be possible across northern IL.  While amounts that fall from the sky just to the south may approach 1″, warmer surface temperatures will limit much for long – lived impacts on surfaces.  To the north, from Chicago to Freeport – Rockford, treatment combined with warmer temperatures should limit any in the way of plowable snow.  The treatment in these areas should negate most, if not all, pavement impacts.  Please watch video for further details.

Breezy conditions develop across central/ southern portions of the state tomorrow afternoon/ evening.  Wind gust of 40 MPH will be possible.  Here is a look at the wind gust potential around 3 PM tomorrow.

Here is a look at precipitation totals through tomorrow.  Please watch video for details.
