2-7-18 Quick Evening Update On Snow Coating Chances Tonight. M.

A robust vorticity ribbon aka an area of lift capable of producing snow showers in this Arctic air mass has moved in and will hang around the area through late morning Thursday. At any given time its possible these snow showers can coat the ground and make untreated surfaces slick. The challenging part is we cannot really pinpoint timing but we can tell you they will be in and around central and northern IND over the next 12 hours or so. This energy will slowly lift NE tonight and into Thursday as seen below in the animation of the energy we are watching as it does so the support for the snow showers will depart with the energy.

You can see the radar loop as of 9:40PM EST showing the light snow already developing and we have had reports of it covering roads near Hendricks and Boone county in places.

Below is my best guess right now when this energy will depart the area from SW to NE. The area where this is all possible is below. Again I know its vague and covers a large area but thats the best that is possible in challenging setups like these. After all whats new this winter? If you have any questions please do not hesistate to reach out. I would certainly recommend arblast patrolling or checking roads and lots prior to start of Business Thursday to prevent any issues. M.
