Good Monday morning.  Off to a dry and frigid start this morning.  All eyes are on a disturbance that will move into the state this afternoon and evening, bringing accumulating snows to the northern half of the state.  Winter weather advisories are out for roughly the northern third of the state:

Here is a look at the snow potential through tonight…a swath of 3-6″ likely here across northern Illinois.  Best chance for 6″ in northwest portions of the state:

Another threat for wintry weather arrives Tuesday night.  This system will have two separate pieces…one that brings a swath of snowfall across central/northern Illinois, and another area across southern Illinois associated with low pressure moving through the Tennessee Valley.
