2-27-18 Northern Plains Forecast: Minor snow chances into late week….latest details here! N.

Video:

Dense fog advisories for portions of Minnesota through 10am CT (time on the graphic below is in eastern time):

Overall a quiet day ahead.  We could possibly see a narrow band of light snow develop in portions of the South Dakota…the band will likely be narrow and dry air will limit the risk.

Fog looks to be a bit more expansive Wednesday morning, mainly targeting central/southern Minnesota, and portions of South Dakota.  Visibility forecast for 8am CT Wednesday morning shown below…focus on the deepest red for the main areas for fog.  Again, the fog could create some freezing on surfaces as we will be quite cold.

As mentioned in more detail in the video, models have trended much weaker with the Wednesday night system, mainly impacting southeast Minnesota.  Amounts look limited here at this point.  We will monitor for any changes to the forecast, but for now it doesn’t look like much of anything.

We will watch for the potential of light snow on Friday especially over portions of the Dakotas, with the potential of snow showers to linger on the North Dakota/Canada border on Saturday.

Note that a potential stronger system is showing up Sunday into early next week, definitely one we’ll need to keep an eye on over the coming days.  Here is a look at our weeks 1 and 2 outlooks:

Have a great Tuesday, let us know if you have any questions!
