2-26-19 Northern Plains: Accumulating snow today. Tracking additional rounds of snow throughout the week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone. We’re carefully tracking snow showers working through portions of S. ND into far NE SD and Western Minnesota. These snow showers will continue throughout the morning hours and slowly push off to the southeast throughout the day. Another wave will develop as we work into the evening hours and push across a similar area:

Here’s a look at the simulated radar into tomorrow morning. Note there will be a break in the precipitation as we work into this afternoon with another wave developing this evening:

Total additional snow by tomorrow morning will be heaviest in Central Minnesota into Wisconsin but 1-3″ is still on the table for areas like Bowman, Bismarck, Minneapolis and Eureka.

Temperatures won’t drop much behind this system and linger in the single digits and teens for highs over the next few days but continued risks for lows below zero:

Another wave of energy will work into late tomorrow evening and into the overnight hours and lead to some light snowfall accumulations mainly in SW SD:

Here’s a look at potential accumulation with that wave tomorrow evening/night:

The next system will begin to work into South Dakota late Thursday night and into Friday which will push west to east across the area. The GFS has been very consistent with this track and the CMC and Euro are also very similar with this system. A solid swath of accumulating snow is certainly on the table with a band of 4-6″ possible.

Here’s a look at wind gusts over the next 4 days:

Here’s a look at city charts for Minneapolis, Pierre, Bismarck and Fargo:
