Good Monday morning! We have a great forecast ahead for today with lots of sunshine and mild conditions! Clouds increase on Tuesday with the threat for some patchy drizzle or light showers to develop, but the better chances for showers will arrive tomorrow night and mainly focused over Missouri. Other areas will see some light drizzle and fog develop Tuesday night.
Eyes will be on the late Wednesday into Thursday time-frame as another area of low pressure works up from the southern Plains, and will gradually strengthen as it moves northeast. This will bring a good coverage of rain across Missouri, with rain and even a transition to snow over portions of Iowa.
With a potent upper-level low overhead, this could lead to a decent band of heavy, wet snow in portions of Iowa Thursday morning. These are known to bring a few surprises. Current models hint at northeast areas like Mason City, Waterloo, Dubuque, to Deborah in the most likely chance. Small changes in the intensity of this low can make a big difference in the outcome, so be sure to check back.
