2-24-20 Tovar Springfield-Decatur: Brief discussion on afternoon data, thoughts remain unchanged.V.

Good Monday Evening! A brief post on latest model guidance as we work into the overnight and what to expect for our Tuesday:

Current winter storm watches in blue and winter weather advisories for counties in purple. We would not be surprised to see the winter storm watches dropped for areas near the IL/WI border:

Favored sim radar guidance from 8 PM tonight to 6 PM Tuesday, each frame is one hour. A few light flurries are possible this evening in the North Central part of IL  (pink blip at beginning of sim radar) thanks to temps dropping to 34-35F but no impacts are expected from this as our precip will slide off to the NE. The overnight will remain quiet in terms of wintry precip across the area thanks to no moisture around. Timing from this afternoon’s update regarding the leading edge of wintry weather for tomorrow is still on track:

Sim temps from 8 PM tonight to 6 PM Tue Night, each frame is one hour. Note how when data is trying to put down snow falling in the middle of the day tomorrow, guidance is sitting at 34-38F (between 12z and 22z- upper right hand of the loop below):

Current snowfall map- no changes were needed from the afternoon map:
