Video:
Good Tuesday morning! Not a pretty start to the day for most as we are dealing with freezing rain from central Iowa down across eastern Kansas this morning.
An ice storm warning has been issued for parts of eastern Kansas into western Missouri, including the Kansas City metro. Three tenths of icing possible here. Winter weather advisories for two-tenths of icing potential from Iowa to central Kansas. Plan on rough travel here!
Freezing rain threat will continue to shift east through the day. Freezing rain comes to an end over much of Iowa (except far southeast) for the afternoon, but continues around Kansas City and builds into western Missouri through the day.
Missouri will be the main focus tonight as the temperatures crash behind the front, with the freezing rain threat shift to central portions of the state, along with a possible flash freeze on roadways. The far southeast portion of the state into the boot heel will remain all rain.
Check out the dramatic temperature drop in Missouri from noon today through 6am Wednesday:
Icing potential through tomorrow morning…locally higher totals possible:
As discussed in the video, another round of mixed wintry weather possible Wednesday night into Thursday. More details in the video. Very heavy amounts of moisture target Missouri over the next several days. Widespread 2-4″, with 5-7″ for the boot heel. Sharp northwest cut-off. Little to no moisture for southwest Kansas.
