Watching a very weak wave that will move along a warm front this afternoon and early evening over Iowa. Don’t be surprised to see a burst of light snow showers here from 2pm-9pm, but not looking at much in terms of accumulation. Dry air will also tend to “eat-up” the snow.
Saturday won’t see much precipitation across the area, other than areas of sprinkles. The arctic front will press into the area Saturday night from north to south, as another disturbance moves into Nebraska Sunday morning. Snow showers should diminish Sunday afternoon as a strong arctic high builds in.
Temperatures will be mild much of Saturday, then expect sharply colder air for Sunday!
Latest guidance continues to show the best chance for snow accumulations over central Nebraska. There looks to be a “narrow” band of up to several inches, heavier in northwest Nebraska. Looking at the majority of the region though, many places see less than 1″. No snow in southern Kansas.
Watching another disturbance that will move across Nebraska and Iowa Monday. This could drop several inches of snow, especially over central Iowa with the latest data:
Watching another system for Tuesday, which may bring additional wintry weather..this time for portions of Kansas, Missouri, and southern Iowa. The WPC experimental map below shows the probability for at least 2.5″ of snow/sleet from 6am Tuesday to 6am Wednesday CT. The best chances across eastern Missouri with a 30-50% chance. Much can change with the intensity/track of this system given we are several days out.
