2-19-18 Missouri Forecast: Latest on the heavy rain threat this week…ice threat for some as well! N.

Good Monday morning!  Winter weather advisory for northwest sections of the state from 9pm this evening to noon on Tuesday where two-tenths of icing is possible around St. Joseph, Maryville, Grant City, and Bethany.  Wind advisory for southwest areas through noon today for south winds gusting to 45 mph.  

Current radar showing scattered showers increasing across the central and southern sections of the state.  Showers and embedded storms will continue here throughout the day:

Rain, rain, and more rain will be the story for many this week.  The forecast radar from 6 this morning to 1pm Tuesday CT shows the repeated rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms targeting the state, with the freezing threat shown in the purple across northwest sections of the state this evening through Tuesday morning.

As we go from Tuesday evening into early Wednesday, the front will progress further east allowing temperatures to drop and the threat for some freezing rain issues in central portions of the state.  

Check out the DRAMATIC drop in temperatures as the front progresses east Tuesday evening.  A 30º drop in a span of 3 hours is likely.  

Rainfall totals will be significant through noon Wednesday, with a widespread 1-3″ for much of central and southern Missouri.  Localized higher totals.  

More rounds of rain will continue to target the state into the weekend.  7-day rain numbers can easily reach a half-foot in southeast portions of the state:
