2-16-18 Northern IN: Targeting weekend light snow + heavy rainmaker early next week. K.

Today’s video:

Watching for our next disturbance to impact northern IN the second half of Saturday…temps will be marginal and generally at or above freezing here as well…so a coating of snow on grassy/elevated surfaces will be possible, but our confidence is low for impacts to the pavement and travel; the main timeline here is ~2pmEST west to 2amEST east. If we clear out faster behind this we could have a few slick spots where left untreated Sunday morning. Skies clear Sunday and temps get into the upper 30s/lower 40s for highs:

The next big topic will be the big rain maker moving in Monday basically through Wednesday with consist, steady rainfall as mentioned in todays video…this is a scenario where 2-3″ total through mid-next week is certainly on table here given the stout upper-level jet stream and high atmospheric moisture content (PWATs) for this time of the year…we have concern for flooding given the current snowpack with a big warm-up and a large amount of rainfall over frozen ground…just something to keep in mind into early next week:

Updated Euro rainfall totals through next week…2-3″ generally is on the table here, the GFS is slightly further south with the heaviest rainfall it should be noted, but we are going with this solution right now as it has been consistent:
