Good morning! Much of the day today will be dry and mild, with highs near 50º for many spots, even warmer south/west. Breezy southerly winds gusting to 30mph this afternoon, with light showers developing after 5pm through the night as a cold front passes, but moisture will be very limited! 0.05″ or less of rain expected. No slick spot concerns tonight as moisture shuts off quickly during the pre-dawn hours and winds will dry the minimal amount of moisture that falls.
Still watching a disturbance for Friday evening and night which is likely to bring a narrow band of light accumulating snow in southern Indiana. The trends have been shifting this wave a bit further south, so it now appears likely Indy misses out. Best chances from a Sullivan -Bloomington-Seymour line and southward for light snow, but highest chances near the Ohio River towards Evansville and Tell City. A narrow band of 1-3″ possible. Wouldn’t rule out locally higher totals near Evansville west along I-64 in Illinois.
Forecast radar from 4pm Friday to 6am Saturday shown below:
Our next system arrives Sunday, likely to bring light snow accumulations across mainly the northern half of the state, although timing/temperatures favor a lower impact event for I-70, with greater potential across northern Indiana, where currently 1-2″ would seem reasonable. Further south, a brief period of light snow/mix before switching to light rain Sunday PM.
Yet another system arrives by the middle of next week. Our area remains in the battle-zone between mild and cold air, so precipitation types are sure to be complicated. More info in today’s video.
