Good Tuesday morning! Overall a quiet day ahead for much of the region with partly sunny skies. Southern Missouri will see more clouds with a few snow/sleet showers this morning, then a disturbance works in overnight into Wednesday morning bringing rains south of I-70 in Missouri.
Portions of southeast Missouri may see a quarter to half inch of rain by Wednesday afternoon.
FOG will be an issue mainly Wednesday night across Iowa. Data shows near 0 visibility Wednesday night and Thursday morning across much of Iowa! This is thanks to the snowpack on the ground combined with warmer air riding on top of it. There may some patchy fog tonight.
With temperatures near to below freezing here Wednesday night, “freezing” fog will be a threat, which may make for tricky travel in spots.
Forecast radar from 3pm CT Thursday to 9am CT Friday shows a band of rain that develops Thursday afternoon along/south of I-70 in Missouri, pushing south Thursday night. The rest of the area stays mainly dry outside of a few rain/snow showers as a cold front moves through.
Temperatures will turn very warm south of the warm front in Kansas/Missouri where 60s/70s are expected. Sharply cooler north. Colder air area-wide Friday.
Precipitation through Friday: most of the area sees 0.05″ or less…meanwhile up to 1″ in southern Missouri.
