2-12-20 Indiana PM Update: Detailed analysis of the impacts and accumulations for ongoing system. B.

Good afternoon everyone. Based on the latest analysis and ongoing conditions throughout the area, we are going to really cut down on our snowfall totals. The snowfall map below is our anticipated pavement snowfall impacts. As of now, given very warm surface temperatures and warm air advection, we are not anticipating pavement impacts for downtown Indy. Attached below is the simulated radar through 4PM tomorrow:

Updated snowfall map for the entirety of this event:

The better chances for impacts will be north of Muncie into Kokomo and Lafayette. These areas will benefit by seeing some snow in the pre-dawn hours tomorrow morning with temperatures closer to 32F. However, if these areas are treated, marginal temperatures should allow pavement accumulations to be minimal. Please be sure to take serious the notes on the map above in regards to treatment this evening.

Current pavement temperatures range from the upper-30s to low 40s across the state.

Given these pavement temperatures, accumulations will be extremely minimal through 7PM. The areas that see more persistent, heavier and less mixed snow will have better opportunities to overcome the pavement temperature and eventually get some light snow that will need to be treated and this looks to pick up closer to 9/10 PM. Below are the snow depth accumulations by 7PM, 1AM and 7AM ET.
