2-12-18 Northern Plains Forecast: Trending milder through mid-week…a couple chances for light snow. N.

Good Monday morning.  No video today, so we will discuss things in more detail here in the post.  Arctic high pressure has brought very cold air.  A disturbance sneaking underneath the high is bringing light snow across portions of South Dakota.  Radar at 10AM shown here:

Upper-level energy will bring the threat for some light snow across South Dakota today, then spreading east into portions of Minnesota tonight into Tuesday.  Forecast radar from 11am today to 10am CT Tuesday shown here:

Temperatures will warm nicely through Wednesday.  Most of the region will be well above freezing Wednesday afternoon.  

Overall, decent weather expected Tuesday and Wednesday with some sun.  A cold front will move through Wednesday night and Thursday.  This will bring the chance for light snow across the area, mixed with some rain initially.  

Portions of the Dakotas may see up to several inches of snow Wednesday night and Thursday.  A lot of the region won’t see a big event.
