2-10-18 Northern IN Forecast: Targeting the last round of wintry precipitation tonight into Sunday…refreeze likely Sunday night where left untreated. K.

Today’s video:

Current radar trends this morning…the bulk of the snow in northern IL looks to stay north…on and off light snow showers possible this morning and throughout the day…a good opportunity to reapply product and gear up for tonight’s accumulating snowfall:

Expecting the bulk of the last round of snowfall to pick up between 10-11pmEST tonight across the LaPorte District and slowly fill in east over the next couple of hours. It should be noted that the southern and southeastern parts of the Districts will be more susceptible to light freezing rain early Sunday morning through the late morning hours before things transition back to snow with colder air aloft working in early afternoon. The further northwest the location the more likelihood of all snow. Things look to wind down east between 5-7pmEST. Temps crash into the teens to single digits (maybe some near or below zero northwest with heavier snow pack) overnight…so any residual moisture left untreated will refreeze once again:

Here’s the area we think is the most susceptible to some light freezing rain working in Sunday morning…accumulations will be very light, but could be enough to set a small glaze on untreated surfaces:

Updated guidance on snowfall accumulations has remained consistent from updates prior…the northern and northwestern county rows will see 2-4″ while south and southeastern locations will taper off quickly to 1-2″ or less (less especially southeast) where the light freezing rain works in Sunday morning:
