Video ():
Synopsis: Good Thursday afternoon. We’re tracking the potential for light accumulating snow in the southern counties of the Southern INDOT district. Snow is beginning to form along an arctic front which will dive south this afternoon and into the evening. Rain will fall initially and will changeover to a quick-hitting heavy burst of snow. We expect snow to fall at a heavy clip for a time and potentially overcome warm roadways and above freezing temperatures to produce a light coating on pavements and grass. Temperatures will fall quickly behind the precipitation leading to a refreeze of wet pavements. Rain will changeover to snow for most areas in southern Indiana by 3PM and snow is already beginning to develop near Evansville. Snow should exit the area by around 7PM tonight.
Here’s a look at the latest simulated Radar (1PM – 8PM):
Here’s a look at the temperature trends over the next 10 hours. We will be below freezing for the entire area by around 5 or 6PM and by midnight we will be well below freezing – into the low 20s – across all of the Southern INDOT districts.
