Next item to watch comes in Friday afternoon/evening as a clipper or “Manitoba Mauler” 🙂 dives into Minnesota.  There is just now much moisture with this, but the arctic air will help to produce 1-2″ in eastern Minnesota mainly east of I-35.  Forecast radar shown below:

Reinforcing cold air across Minnesota Saturday, then milder air for much of the area Sunday:

The pattern next week brings multiple clipper systems into eastern portions of the region bringing snow chances.  This will allow a snow pack to gradually build across Minnesota.  The amplified jet stream keeps southwest areas warmer and drier.
