12-28-19 Tovar Champaign – Bloomington: Discussing heavy rain this weekend… potential light snow early next week. MG.

IL Video:

A robust low pressure system will bring widespread heavy rain with the potential for thunder and lightning and gusty conditions.  Here is a look at the preferred simulated radar guidance from 12 PM today through 6 AM Monday morning.

Under some of the stronger storms, wind gust of 30+MPH will be possible.

Here is a look at preferred precipitation totals out through Monday morning.  Widespread 1+” will be possible with the highest chance to see 2 +” of precipitation across southern IL.

Some snow flurries will be possible on the backside of this system.  Here is a look at the European model around 3 AM TUE morning.

Temperatures into Monday evening look to be slightly above freezing at this time which would limit any accumulations.  Here is a look at modeled temperatures around 6 PM Monday.

However temperatures are forecasted to drop as we get into the overnight Monday into TUE morning.  It is this time where some minor snow accumulations will be possible.  We will have to fine – tune as we get closer to Monday/ Tuesday.  Here is a look at temperatures around 5 AM TUE morning.
