Good Thursday morning everyone. Very heavy bands of snow are working into Eastern South Dakota and will continue to pus further into the area throughout the day today. Here’s a look at the current radar: 

Here’s a look at the simulated radar throughout the day. Targeting E. SD and into SW Minnesota for the heaviest snow this morning and the early afternoon with heavy banded snow becoming more common in Central Minnesota late afternoon and especially this evening. The rain snow-line likely lingers near or just east of Sioux Falls with Minneapolis seeing mostly rain. Lingering snow showers with light accumulations are possible in E. SD and S. Minnesota through tomorrow afternoon:

Very strong wind gusts will persist throughout the day leading to blowing and drifting snow in the Dakotas with wind progressing east into tonight. This will create major travel issues in areas that see the heavy snow with continued issues even after snow has ended tonight. 

The winds combined with dropping temperatures will also lead to brutal wind chills tomorrow morning dropping into the -20s tomorrow morning:
