Today’s IL video:
Today’s IN video:
Today’s OH video:
Big story today aside from the rain showers moving west to east will be the very windy conditions. Currently there are little to no wind advisories issued across the Region and we disagree given the very stout winds aloft that will likely mix down to the surface with the showers & isolated storms working through today. At times especially this afternoon into the evening winds could gust as high as 50mph and in some spots we think could top 50mph:
We discuss timing on the rain in the video, here’s a look at total rainfall guidance over the next 60 hours…as we mentioned yesterday where the bulk of the rain falls we can see a general 0.5-1.0″ with localized spots seeing a little higher, possible. Areas south of I-70 in OH may see ~0.25-0.5″:
As mentioned also in the video, some backside snow flurries and isolated snow showers can’t be ruled out into Saturday morning behind the cold front across the northern half of IL/IN into OH…temps will be marginal into Saturday morning near freezing, coming from very warm temps on Friday so at this time we are not anticipating widespread refreeze potential nor much accumulation on pavement:
We target another bout of moderate to heavy rain showers working into the Region early next week in the videos…check out these temps from normal that work in on the backside of that wave early next week below…we open up the New Year and the following couple of days to much cooler air than what we’ve seen that past couple of weeks that’s for sure:
Total precipitation guidance over the next 7 days is below…areas south of I-70 pose the risk for ~1.5-2.5″, some spots of localized 3.0″ can’t be ruled out closer to the Ohio River. Areas further north of I-70 pose a risk for ~0.5-1.5″:
High temperatures over the next 4 days:
Low temperatures over the next 4 days:
Wind forecast over the next 4 days:
High/low temperatures over the next 10 days: Cooler, seasonal air returns for the weekend, then an arctic blast of air arrives next Tuesday/Wednesday. Another surge of milder air late next week.
