12-22-19 Tovar Peoria: Looking ahead to a warm Christmas with continued quiet weather. MG.

Today’s Video:

Quiet and warmer weather pattern continues through Christmas.

Models are suggesting some fog development tonight/ tomorrow morning for parts of southern/ central IL into central/ northern IN and parts of central OH.  Models have performed very poorly with fog as of late and thus confidence is a bit lower than normal regarding this.  There are some ingredients for fog formation to occur (light winds, clear night skies, low level moisture, favorable temperature profile) so the risk is there.  Below is a look at some modeled fog around 7 AM ET tomorrow morning.

Will have to keep an eye for some potential slick spots from freezing fog, especially along the I-70 corridor, where overnight lows can drop slightly below freezing.  Here is a look at overnight lows tonight/ tomorrow morning.  The model shown below is likely over playing the influence of snow cover creating temperatures that are too low.  Regardless, temperatures from Columbus, to Indianapolis, down to St. Louis have the highest potential of seeing temperatures dip below 32 F.  0 tolerance in these areas may need to be monitored for any potential slick spots that may develop.

Quiet weather is expected out through Wednesday.  Christmas is looking very warm this year with temperatures reaching the 60 F mark in southern IL/ IN/ OH and mid to lower 50’s F for most.  Here is a look at temperatures around 4 PM ET on Christmas.
