12-14-18 Northern Plains: Warmer, dry pattern throughout the next week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Friday morning everyone! A clear start to the day for most areas, with a few areas of patchy freezing fog in SE Minnesota:

We’ll see mostly sunny skies throughout the day today:

With clear skies overnight and the snowpack remaining in Southeastern portions of the region, we could see patchy freezing fog tomorrow morning especially in low-lying areas. This fog should lift by mid-morning tomorrow:

A cold front will approach the area tomorrow morning but with very dry air at the surface, nothing more than a few sprinkles or a very isolated, very brief shower is likely along the front. The vast majority will stay completely dry.

Behind the front tomorrow afternoon and evening we could see wind gusts of 30-40 MPH with isolated gusts up to 45 MPH especially in the W. ND/NW SD and into Central North Dakota.

We’ll need to watch a system next Wednesday and Thursday that could bring a chance of light rain/snow into the area. Favoring the GFS solution right now given multi-model support and recent European trends and northern displaced jet.
