Today’s Video:
Good Tuesday Morning everyone! We have some light freezing rain/rain mix working into the Bismarck area this morning:
We’ll see this wave of precipitation continue to progress east throughout the day today and work across the Dakotas and drop some light rain into the afternoon. As we work into the overnight hours, we’ll see a changeover to snow in SE ND, NE SD and into NW Minnesota. This will lead to a band of narrow accumulating snow before energy transfers to the southeast leading to light snow in SE Minnesota.
Here’s a look at the area most likely to see 1″ to isolated 2″ of snow late this evening into tonight. Note this is a very narrow band so a small shift in track or timing of the energy transfer can make a big difference in no snow to 1-2″. For this reason, we’ve outlined a wider area that needs to be on watch for this light snow accumulation tonight:
Here’s a look at total precipitation with this system. Note, dry air will prevent much rainfall accumulation in the Dakotas today, but sprinkles and some brief light rain are possible:
Here’s a look at potential accumulation generally less than 1″ in Southeast Minnesota:
As we work into Wednesday, another wave of energy will lead to some more light rain/snow into the area and lead to more light snow accumulations in NW Minnesota:
Beyond this, we only have a weak wave to track this weekend, but more notably we’ll be warming into a more mild pattern:
Here’s a look at winds over the next 4 days:
