12-10-18 IN/IL/OH: Foggy start to the week, temps moderate w/ multiple precip chances ahead as well. K

Today’s video:

As Isaac mentioned yesterday, a few pockets of freezing fog will continue to be possible through late morning to even noon in spots mainly I-70 and points north with temps widespread into the teens (the darker the color below, the lower the visibility)…this will likely linger longer given the lack of air moving at the surface. Take it a little slower out there this morning as some slick spots on untreated surfaces will be possible:

Next wave of precip works east late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning from west to east…there maybe light snow showers on the “nose” of this energy, however, given how quickly warm air rushes in behind this along the warm front, impactful wintry weather is not likely at this time and most of us seeing light rain showers:

Following mid week, our next shot at rain showers looks to be late Thursday night into Friday, even lingering into Saturday across parts of IN/OH as a “cut-off” low pressure system slowly works west to east. The slower nature of this system is because it is being cut-off from the jet stream for a time meaning it cannot progress quickly east. This also means our source of cold air is pretty much cut-off as well meaning higher risks for rain vs other wintry weather types:

Total precipitation next 7 days is below from the GFS parallel model…I-70 south in IL into IN and OH pose the risk generally for 0.5-1.0″ with local pockets of higher amounts given the slow nature of the system late week into early weekend:

High temperatures over the next 4 days…warming up heading into mid-week compared to recent high temps:

Low temperatures over the next 4 days:

Wind forecast over the next 4 days…overall winds staying more on the lighter side this week:

High/low temperatures over the next 15 days:  Extended stretch of above normal temps ahead, with changes returning ~22nd and beyond.
