11-6-19 Chicago North (4am): No issues this AM…watching this evening for snow showers & falling temps. N.

Good morning!  The area has temperatures between 32-35º, with very minimal precipitation showing up.

Simulated radar shows that the snows that are impacting things will stay just north in southern Wisconsin.  We’ll see brief bursts of snow showers through 8am CST.

Temperatures will not fall any lower from right now, and by 8am we are all above freezing.  We do no anticipate any issues here this morning.

Really, what we will need to watch is this evening.  A band of snow showers will work south through the area from 7pm-1am tonight.  This will gradually weaken as it progresses south through the area underneath a gusty north wind, gusting to 25mph.

Forecast temperatures from 7pm to 1am tonight show temperatures in the Chicago North area at freezing by 8pm, then we’ll fall below freezing after that point, with light snow still in the area through midnight.  That’s when we watch for isolated slicks spots on untreated surfaces and sheltered areas from the gusty north wind.

Keep an eye for isolated slick spots to develop this evening on untreated surfaces, but impacts should more isolated in nature thanks to the wind, and the fact that the snow will not fall that heavily.  After 1am we will all turn dry.  Check out the sustained wind speeds tonight, northerly winds sustained 10-15mph, gusts around 25mph.
