Today’s video:
A little freezing drizzle/rain threat, maybe even a couple pockets of sleet continue to develop across central IN this morning that looks to push into western OH later this morning through the morning commute…given surface and pavement temps below freezing, some slick spots on untreated surfaces will be possible. Overall we continue to lift in warmer air throughout the morning, so by the time we reach late morning for Indiana and early afternoon for OH in these areas we should work in temps at or above freezing:
We develop another weak wave of energy to work west to east overnight tonight into Friday morning, we’ve highlighted an area in northern IL to northern IN and northwest OH that pose a risk for additional freezing rain (locally dense freezing fog possible in northern IL as well given current snowpack and warm air riding over the top of this) given the current snowpack and temps targeted below freezing…slick spots on untreated surfaces will be possible here as well:
We continue to eye a big surface of warm air and moisture later Friday into Saturday from SW to NE…our risks here especially Saturday morning into the afternoon will be for heavy rainfall, very gusty winds topping 40mph+ and isolated strong storms possible:
Total precipitation guidance over the next 7 days is below…given the robust nature of our storm system on Saturday we’ve increased our thoughts for most of us being susceptible to ~0.75-1.50″ through this period…next week we see another blast of cold air area-wide, with multiple shots of wintry weather even accumulating snowfall possible:
High temperatures over the next 4 days: Big warming trend into the weekend, with Saturday being the warmest day for the area. Appears a large spread in temperatures will develop Sunday with 50s to near 60 south and east, with 30s north and west.
Low temperatures over the next 4 days: In many areas, lows stay above freezing the next 4 nights. The areas in northwest Illinois with a snowpack drop below freezing tonight – hence some freezing fog/rain concerns there.
Wind forecast over the next 4 days: Expect a very windy weekend, especially Saturday, with some gusts 40 to 50mph certainly not out of the question.
High/low temperatures over the next 10 days…dropping in another big shot of cold air to open up the first week of meteorological winter:
