Today’s Video:
Good Wednesday morning everyone! We have a few light snow showers working through Eastern Minnesota this morning which could put down a light dusting in a few spots:
These should push off to the east by mid-day/early afternoon:
The bigger issue today could be areas of freezing/mist and drizzle due to continued low-level saturation along a stationary boundary. I’ve outlined the areas that are most at risk to see freezing drizzle throughout the day today. Note, it could be off and on at times, but the saturation generally looks to persist throughout most of the day:
We could see some additional mist/drizzle risks tomorrow, but temperatures will be more marginal. We’ll also need to watch for freezing fog risks tomorrow morning in the dark areas indicated by the NAM3. The model is likely a tad overdone but seems to have a good handle on the areas to watch for freezing fog/drizzle overnight and into tomorrow morning:
A weak wave will work in Friday afternoon and lead to light rainfall chances in Eastern Minnesota with 0.1 – 0.25″ possible. Northeast Minnesota will need to be on watch for Friday night mixing rain and snow as colder temperatures start to work into the area. Cannot rule out some light accumulations mainly on grassy surfaces of 1-1.5″ in the Arrowhead of Minnesota.
Latest trends on the late Saturday and Sunday system are further south in part because of stronger adjustments with incoming high pressure.
Here’s a look at the different model solutions for this storm system. Note, we favor the further south solutions at this time, with SW South Dakota perhaps into far South Central SD with the best risks for some accumulating snowfall. A lot of variability remains in this system, so it will need to be watched closely.
