11-17-19 Tovar Stevens Point: Latest thoughts on potential refreeze tonight.V.

Good Sunday afternoon! Below is your latest forecast update:

A look at current radar- we are seeing some transition to a few light snow showers from Dubuque to Madison to just north of Milwaukee. While this is falling as snow, current surface observations show temps of at least 34 degrees so we are not expecting this to accumulate on pavement:

Sim radar from 5 PM CT this afternoon through 12 AM CT overnight. While it will be possible to see some snowflakes around the Dubuque to Freeport to Madison areas- as we progress into the evening temperatures are expected to remain above freezing while the precip falls, leading to no real accumulation. This precip will continue to work its way off to the N and E in decaying fashion:

Simulated temps from 7 PM CT until 7 AM CT tomorrow morning. Our current preferred solution shows temps staying right at or above freezing the entire night so it is unlikely for a widespread refreeze to occur- some slick spots possible in  isolated areas.  The best chance for potential refreeze will be from Dubuque, IA north to Stevens Point, WI.  Areas to the east, such as Madison, WI, Milwaukee, WI, Racine, WI, and Freeport, IL, look to stay at or just above freezing. As discussed in the AM update, this is not a “flash freeze” scenario where we are dropping 10+ degrees in a few hours, temps will likely hover in the mid 30s for the rest of the afternoon before dipping to the low 30s by overnight.  Overall, impacts look to be very minimal:
