11-14-18 Northern Plains: Watching two waves of snow late this week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Wednesday morning everyone! It’s another quiet morning across the region and sunny skies and mild temperatures will dominate much of the area today. We could see perhaps a few very isolated showers/sprinkles in the far northern counties in Minnesota, but attention will turn to tomorrow morning when a wave of energy will lead to an initial mix of rain/snow and then transitioning to all snow throughout the day. This will wrap around and lead to additional snow showers into Central MN late tomorrow evening. Here’s a look at the simulated radar this evening to tomorrow at midnight:

Here’s a look at our preliminary snowfall outlook for tomorrow:

Some strong wind gusts could accompany this wave to the south tomorrow with gusts up to 40 MPH. Here’s a look at winds over the next 4 days:

Another wave will quickly follow this wave as we work into Friday. This will lead to another chance of accumulating snow with snow working in Friday morning in Western ND. As high pressure and a cold front moves south, this snow will quickly push south leading to accumulations into South Dakota and SW Minnesota. We will likely see a narrow band of some heavier snow, but data continues to be very inconsistent with amounts and placement.

Behind this system, temperatures will drop very quickly and Saturday morning could see low temperatures below zero in North Dakota. here’s a look at temperatures over the next 4 days:
