11-11-19 Tovar Chicago South (3am): Snow ramps up between 7-9am for most of the area….details here. N.

Radar as of 2:30AM CST is showing the band of snow clipping the far northern areas, but much of the area remains dry.  Chicago Midway is reporting a rain/snow mix with 36º, while further out at O-Hare, it’s 32º with all snow.

You can see on the forecast radar by 5am we’ll begin to see heavier snow rates in our northern areas from Kendall, DuPage, Kane, and DeKalb counties, with the heaviest snow falling over the heart of the area by 9 this morning.  By 1pm, we’ll pretty much be done when it comes to our snowfall accumulations.

Temperature loop from 3am to 1pm: We’ll hang onto warmer air for a good while thanks to the flow off Lake Michigan in areas of southern Cook, Will, and Kankakee counties through about 9am, while areas further west of there will see the drop take place faster, meaning more accumulation realized on the pavement.  By 10am, the entire area should have fallen into the 20s, with numbers holding in the middle 20s this afternoon.

Expect a noticeable increase in the wind as the front passes this morning, between 6-9am we’ll see gusts increase from 15mph to 25-35mph, initially northeast, then turning due north.

Latest forecast snow totals remain on track with our previous update.
