11-11-19 Chicago N: Latest on remaining snow potential through tonight. MG.

Good Monday Morning

Current look at the radar shows some light to at time moderate snow off to the NW with the heaviest band to the southeast working away from Chicago.

Here is a look at simulated radar from 1 PM CT through 6 PM CT.  Snow will begin to clear out from NW to SE across the Chicago area.  By 3 – 5 PM the majority of the snow will have moved off to the southeast with some scattered flurries still around the area through 6 PM CT.

Here is a look at simulated radar around 8 PM.  By this time, most of the snow will have shifted off to the east.

Here is a look at preferred snowfall totals. out through 10 tonight.

We need to be on the look out for some light snow into the overnight.  There will continue to be passing “upper level energy” overhead this evening.  This energy is a source for lift in the atmosphere.  However, moisture will be lacking and it will be hard to produce any snowfall beyond this initial wave.  The loop below shows the upper level energy from noon through midnight.  The “reds”, “yellows”, and “greens” signify upward motion in the atmosphere.  Because of the cold air, it will be possible that this can squeeze a few flurries this evening for an additional light coating.  No widespread additional snow is expected and these would be more scattered in nature with minimal accumulations.  Something to keep an eye on this evening.

Here is a look at temperatures from 12 PM today through 10 PM tonight.  Temperatures will continue to fall as we progress through tonight.
